Kensington has been the home to hair of bellair since 1988. The salon started as Kensington Hair and soon became a meeting point for the local community. Kensington artists exhibited their work at the salon, which held several exhibition openings. The place was renamed to Kensington Hair Gallery, then a move around the corner – from Bellair Street to Macaulay Road – inspired its current name.

The name of the hair salon changed a few times, but its focus remained the same: a friendly and professional service. "hair off bellair is a place to feel comfortable amongst friendly, experienced stylists", says its creator, Wendy Roberts.
